Ash Skyline Plaza

Taking it to the Street

Skyline

Take a stroll with us! A lot has changed at the Ash Skyline Plaza, and many of the changes can be viewed by taking a quick walk around the block. In our most recent update from Weigand Construction, we learned:

  • The buckhoist (orange service elevator on the east side of the building) is currently being dismantled
  • Floors 7-9 are temporarily heated, except for the atrium
  • Inside the building, drywall work is ongoing
  • Layout of the access flooring (where cables will be below our desks instead of in the ceiling) has begun

Ash photographer Dean Oyer took a walk around the site last week. Check out his view of several finishing touches. From sidewalk benches and trashcans to gates at the parking garage, the progress is apparent.

Hustling and Bustling Holiday Action

Skyline

With Thanksgiving gone and Christmas preparations upon us, we’ve barely had time to look up from our desks, let alone look up at the Ash Skyline Plaza. But a lot has happened in the last few weeks – and a lot will continue to happen in the weeks ahead!

First of all, you may have noticed the Big Ash Crane (as we lovingly called the 220-foot-tall tower crane) is gone. It was removed in mid-November as exterior construction wraps up and things start to move indoors.

You also may have noticed crews have been testing the LED lighting on the parking garage. These lights can change colors for seasons and special events, and will be another great feature to enhance the building’s exterior. Tim Ash had a chance to snap a few pictures last week – check them out!

Our friends at Weigand Construction say there’s a lot more action happening on site in the coming weeks:

  • Right now, most of the work is centered around putting in mechanical systems
  • The streetscape is nearly completed on the north and south sides
  • Atrium glazing (adding the glass) will be starting the next few weeks
  • Signage design will be completed at the end of the month
  • The buck hoist (orange elevator on the east side) is coming down in January
  • Work on the Lake City Bank space will be wrapping up in January
  • Crews will start the access flooring (the cables for our desks are in the floor instead of the ceiling) on the eighth and ninth floors in January

Watch for progress here or on the OxBlue Construction Camera. Below are the latest photos from our staff photographer, Dean Oyer.

Little Pieces, Big Difference

Skyline

If you're checking the OxBlue Construction Camera regularly, you may have noticed the changes on the site aren't as drastic as they were a year ago.

Now, the bigger changes are coming in the form of smaller details. You might have to zoom in (like we do!) to notice some of the progress. Or better yet, you might have to get up close and personal to see what's happening. Things like sidewalks, stairways, interior walls and exterior panels are adding personality and style every day.

The parking garage, for example, will have a total of 708 exterior panels, which give it a unique and appealing facade. The panels will total 24,213 square feet. Maybe that's not as small of a detail as we thought! Either way, they look great.

Another detail we're loving? DeBrand Fine Chocolates is planning to open a store in the Ash Skyline Plaza! We're thrilled to have a such sweet neighbor on the first floor of our new home.

Check out the latest photos courtesy of Stacy Hanna at Weigand Construction and Ash photographer Dean Oyer. Which details do you love?

Amazed and Inspired

Skyline

With the biggest pieces complete, work on our future headquarters seems to be moving lightning fast these days. As our spring move-in gets closer and closer, Ash employees have been given an exclusive chance to tour the building and view the progress firsthand. Each group seems to come back amazed and inspired!

Below are photos from an Ash employee who went on today’s (Oct. 16) tour, along with some photos from our friends at MSKTD – check out those views!

Enjoying the View

Skyline

The future looks bright from the shiny new windows being installed at the Ash Skyline Plaza. As crews work to enclose the building and move inside for the winter, the windows on our future headquarters started going in last week.

Tim Ash was lucky enough to get the view from inside the sixth floor. In the photo below, he's looking out at what will become the building's rooftop green space - won't that be incredible?

Another incredible view was sent to us on Facebook recently. Check out the Skyline sunrise image, along with more construction progress photos, below.
